THE JASON MILLER FRIEND'S TRUST
Our Friend and Brother
In March 2018, Jason Miller was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer, one of the toughest cancers with a 5 year survival rate of around 5%. He was married to Sandra, they celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in 2020 and have 5 beautiful daughters aged between 11 and 23.
Since then, Jason has met the challenges of this cancer head on and undergone significant treatment including radiation, chemotherapy and the removal of most of his esophagus. We thought he had beaten it for a year, but in November 2020 Jason’s cancer returned and was classed with Stage 4 cancer.
He exhausted all available treatment options in Ireland and had sourced innovative new treatment in Germany. Jason flew to Germany from Ireland on average twice a month. This is a tough physical, financial and emotional journey for the family. He was motivated to continue the fight for himself and also to advance treatment options for those that suffer from this disease. As Jason put it: "I go to Germany to try all these drugs, not just for me, I want everyone to get them and give someone else a chance. And that is really important for me...”
The monthly treatment has been a significant financial drain on the family. A number of close friends, family and ex-colleagues have come together to establish “The Jason Miller Friends Trust”, a trust dedicated to covering the cost of treatment for Jason and helping his family.
With the incredible help of over 1,100 generous donations we achieved our target of EUR 250,000.
A heartfelt THANK-YOU to all that have contributed.
